Meet the Partnerships & Onboarding Team!

Ryan Osborne

Managing Director, Partnerships & Onboarding

Hi- my name is Ryan Osborne and I’m the Managing Director of our Partnerships & Onboarding team here at TFA Chicago-Northwest Indiana.  Originally from Pittsburgh, I attended undergrad at Davidson College (studying Chemistry and theatre) and proudly joined the TFA corps in 2007 as a HS Science teacher in Washington, D.C  while simultaneously earning my Masters in Teaching from American University.  After the corps, I was the founding chemistry teacher at a brand new charter school in Charlotte, NC, which is now the top in the state.  After teaching for a total of 4 years, I was ecstatic to return to TFA to be able to work towards my passion of educational equity and impact more students who deserve an excellent education.  In my 9th year of staff, I’ve served in a variety of roles from coaching our teachers directly to now managing our strategy for partnership and placement here in Chicago-Northwest Indiana to ensure we can maximize our impact on students.

Director, Matriculation & onboarding

I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. I attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, it was there that I made the decision to dedicate my life to ending educational inequity. I moved to Chicago in 2011 and began teaching elementary school in Chicago Public Schools on the south and west sides of the city. I came to Teach For America in 2015, where I coached elementary and middle school teachers before becoming the Director of Matriculation and Onboarding. In my role I get to support all incoming corps members in not only making their decision to join the corps, but being fully aware of the role, responsibilities and benefits of being a Chicago-Northwest Indiana Corps Member. I look forward to working with each of you this year!

Manager, Licensure & Certification

My name is Steven Grosso and I’m the Manager of Licensure & Certification for Teach For America Chicago-Northwest Indiana. I’m originally from Bourbonnais, Illinois (an hour south of Chicago) and attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where I studied history & psychology. My background in history and working with kids in non-profits inspired me to become a 2015 St. Louis Corps Member where I taught Freshmen English Language Arts. My role will help you navigate the Licensure & Certification process for your Onboarding and Corps experience, meaning I’ll be your point of contact for your content exams, applying for your teaching license, and maintaining that license throughout your 2 years in TFA. I’m excited to work with you this year!

My name is Marieljane (MJ) Bastien and I’m the Associate of AmeriCorps Partnerships and School Operations for Teach For America Chicago-Northwest Indiana. Before that I served as a 2013 Massachusetts Corps member and taught high school special education. When it comes to any questions regarding AmeriCorps (eligibility, the education award, loan forbearance etc.), I am your gal! Additionally, I support Ryan with school partnership logistics. I am very excited to get to know you all this year!
