In addition to teaching, he leads AI professional development for other teacher and is also building Echieve, an edtech venture creating automation tools that help math teachers streamline their preparation and focus more on students and teaching.

Monique Smith is a Gary, Indiana native and Teach For America alumna with over a decade of experience working alongside underrepresented communities in Chicago Public Schools. She currently serves in school leadership at Piccolo School of Excellence in West Humboldt Park, where her work centers on strengthening educators and school systems through holistic practices that respond to the realities of toxic stress experienced by many students and communities. Monique has shared her expertise with audiences at EducationWeek, DePaul University, and Google, and earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Clark Atlanta University. Beyond education, she is also an aspiring filmmaker—bringing creativity and storytelling into all aspects of her work.
Anna Campbell
Anna Campbell is the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Lead at Piccolo School of Excellence in Chicago's West Humboldt Park neighborhood. Her thirteen-year career in education began as a 2012 Teach for America Corps Member, followed by seven years teaching lower elementary and serving as a Reading Interventionist in Chicago Public Schools. Anna is passionate about creating school-wide systems that dismantle barriers to student success and center each child's whole self. She holds a Master's in Public School Building Leadership from Teachers College Columbia University (2025) and remains driven by her commitment to building equitable education systems that serve the individual needs of students, families, and communities.

Brittanee Rolle is a 2014 TFA Alumni with 12 years of classroom experience. For the greater part of those years, she has spent them joyously teaching English to high school students on the South Side of Chicago, in the Roseland community. She has been awarded grants from National Geographic, Fund for Teachers, Chicago Beyond and a local literary author. Her focus on rigorous instruction coupled with culturally relevant teaching strategies made her a recipient of numerous awards honoring her expertise.

Jointly run by TFA and UIC's EdD program in Urban Education Leadership, The Aspire Fellowship is a 10-month program that prepares teachers of color to enter principal certification programs in the next two years. The Fellowship is free to participants and Fellows receive ongoing support after completing the Fellowship, including scholarship and career coaching opportunities. Prospective applicants and those looking to support teachers of color in their school or network are encouraged to join a virtual Info Session on February 3, 2026, to learn more. Career Acceleration Series 6: AI-Powered Teaching, Future-Ready Careers
Educators have always been at the heart of meaningful learning, and their impact is more valuable than ever. In partnership with Apple's Community Education Initiative, this session will honor that legacy while exploring how AI is transforming the way educators teach and students learn.

Volunteer with Braven as a Leadership Coach
TFA is partnering with Braven, a national nonprofit that empowers college students with the skills, experience, confidence and networks to land a strong first job after graduation. Braven is offering two virtual volunteer opportunities where TFA alums can continue to facilitate growth for the next generation of leaders after their time in the Corps! Each of the roles below are intentionally designed to ensure that you both grow professionally and make an impact on college students embarking on their early career paths: Leadership Coach Program (January–May; ~2-3 hours per week)
Coaches facilitate Braven’s Accelerator course, guiding small groups of Fellows through career-building experiences and a real-world business challenge. Braven does all of the planning and provides all the materials you will need. This is a strong opportunity for anyone interested in developing or improving their leadership skills, especially people management skills. Volunteers meet weekly on Zoom at a set class time and build their own management and team leadership skills in the process. Mentors provide one-on-one support to college students who are navigating the job or internship search. Each year, Teach For America Greater Chicago-Northwest Indiana honors alumni who are shaping educational excellence across classrooms, schools, and systems in our region. These Alumni of the Year Awards recognize exceptional teachers, school leaders, and systems leaders whose leadership creates meaningful, measurable impact for students. Each honoree will receive a $5,000 award and be recognized in Spring 2026.
We know that many of the most powerful stories of impact come from those who witness the work firsthand—colleagues, partners, parents, and other alumni. The 2026 nomination cycle is now open through December 16, 2025. Anyone is welcome to submit a nomination. Deadline to submit nominations for the 2026 Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year Awards
Since 1970, the Illinois State Board of Education has sponsored the Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year program to honor educators who have made significant contributions to our state's public and nonpublic elementary and secondary schools. Awards are presented in seven categories: classroom teachers, early career educators (teachers 1-4 years), school administrators, student support personnel, educational service personnel, community volunteers, and teams. The Leadership Greater Chicago Signature Fellows Program
The Leadership Greater Chicago Signature Fellows Program application cycle for the Class of 2027 will open in October. Candidates are required to complete an online application, which includes two required letters of recommendation. For candidates who have a disability, please email our team to request accommodation(s) to ensure full participation in the process.
Since LGC's founding in 1983, nearly 1,400 of Chicago’s best and brightest leaders have completed the LGC Signature Fellows Program. We look forward to another year of exemplary candidates and selecting another transformational class to join our 40-year legacy of building and strengthening the pipeline of civic leaders who will lead the future of the City of Chicago and the Greater Chicago Region.

Apply now to the Mikva Challenge Educator Fellowship!
The Mikva Challenge Educator Fellowship is a yearlong paid professional development opportunity offered in partnership with the CPS Department of Social Science for Chicago-based educators working with students in grades 5–12.
Through eight synchronous sessions and a weekend workshop, fellows deeply engage with Mikva’s Issues to Action framework, gaining tools to lead real-world civic learning and support students in addressing community issues. Participants collaborate with Mikva staff and peers, apply what they learn in their own contexts, and develop a showcase project that highlights youth leadership and civic engagement.
